The Uncool Dad interviews Rain Da Mask about sneakers and fatherhood
Those of you that know me know that I have a passion for trainers (sneakers being the new vernacular in the UK). It’s a love that I’ve had since being in primary school when my brother and my mum bought me my first pair of Nikes in the Philippines (special prize for anyone who can guess what they were). I’ve watched the sneaker culture evolve – enthusiasts went from being lame weirdos queuing for kicks to it being a cool, social norm.
A lot has changed personally in my time collecting kicks – like becoming a dad for instance. And I’m not the only one.
In this series of conversations / interviews, I’ve asked some of my Sneaker Dad mates a few questions about what it’s like to be both a dad and a sneaker enthusiast. First up is Rain who is an integral part of the running of the “Sneakerplay” FB community and runs a sneaker review channel on YouTube: Rain Da Mask amongst many of the other pies he has his fingers in. Enjoy! Continue reading “The Uncool Sneaker Dads Vol. 1 ft Rain Nelson”
The Uncool Dad Takes The Missus And Their Youngest For Lunch In Holborn And End Up On The South Bank
Earlier this week, the Missus and I took our youngest son Benjamin to My Old Dutch in Holborn for lunch. I ate too much (honestly, check the size of the pancake, it was called the “My Old Dutch” for anyone that cares) so we decided to go for a “short walk”.

There’s bloggers that win awards – they’re consistent in what they do, they slog it out and constantly grind to put the best into their blogs/vlogs. These guys post two to four times a week, they’re always up to date with the latest in parenting trends and happenings. Some of them even get paid for it!
And then there’s writers like myself. So self-conscious about what to share that I end up over-sharing at times if not at all, fussing too much about quality over quantity that I end up not writing for almost two months (ok to be fair, I’ve been frickin’ busy with fundraising with the Missus for charity and helping her organise her brand Three Little Pandas’ first birthday party whilst cramming in end of tax year admin and.. well, you know.. working and keeping the kids alive and shit). In the time since my last post, I was also pretty ill before we travelled abroad (and lo and behold, I’m ill again since we got back). Trying to write when you’re ill is an absolute bitch. The long and short of it is that I don’t deserve an award of any type for writing by my standards.
Anyway, I’ve won a fucking award!!! Continue reading “Mystery Blogger Award”
